The purpose of the Catholic Youth Council (C.Y.C.) is to help boys and girls become ideal youth - loyal to God, church community, and country. One aspect of the CYC program is athletics; the goals here are to help our youth become physically fit, promote good sportsmanship, and teach respect for rules, teamwork, and the ability to get along with others.
St. Ferdinand sponsors teams in baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and track. There are training leagues for grades kindergarten through 2nd, and CYC leagues for 3rd grade through high school. Sign-ups for baseball, softball, and track are in January, soccer and volleyball in May and for basketball in September. Dates, times, and places for sign-ups are published in the bulletin.
Our Athletic Association helps support its activities through a variety of fundraisers, such as the Annual Soccer Tournament; the Fr. Ayd Basketball Tournament and the concession stand proceeds from the various sporting events. The Athletic Committee meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m.
